Part A — THE TEXT
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. — Psalm 145:18
Part B — CONTEXT & MEANING
Psalm 145 is a psalm of praise penned by David, celebrating the majestic and eternal nature of God. This particular verse comes as part of a litany of God's attributes, emphasizing His goodness and faithfulness to those who sincerely seek Him. Verse 18 underscores the intimacy of God's presence with believers, assuring us that as we call upon His name in truth and sincerity, we are met with His nearness and graciousness.
Part C — COMMENTARY
In a world that often feels overwhelmingly distant and chaotic, the promise of God’s nearness offers the believer profound comfort and reassurance. As R.C. Sproul notes, the omnipresence of God isn't an abstract theological construct, but a deeply personal and practical reality. God's nearness implies His direct involvement in our lives, His readiness to hear our cries, and His willingness to guide us with His infinite wisdom. When our hearts are aligned in truth with His will, He not only listens but abides with us. In all circumstances, may we continue to call upon His holy name, safe in the assurance of His unfailing presence.
